Abstract

The objective of quality assurance in clinical research is to promote and verify that clinical trials are executed according to all applicable rules and regulations, notably ICH GCP. These have been established in order to protect the safety and well-being of trial subjects and to ensure that trial results are reliable. Quality assurance is part of the much broader discipline of quality management, which is explained in this chapter. Several possible roles in the field of quality assurance and some suggestions how to get there are presented.
