The inclusion of institutions of higher education in national science, technology and innovation has resulted in an increase in the demand for scientific articles for the dissemination of research and the generation of knowledge in specialized journals in science, technology and innovation. In this paper a definition of this textual genre is proposed, based on categories from linguistics and semiotics, as well as the conditions that determine the logical production, circulation and interpretation of meaning to which this is due, in order to support the development of skills and competencies in textual production-related research and knowledge management.
