Abstract

Zinc transport through the systemic circulation can be viewed from many different perspectives. In the past, attention has been paid to the zinc concentration and zinc-binding proteins. More recently, the dynamic nature of zinc-binding constituents of the plasma as a metabolic compartment has been defined. Indeed, evidence suggests that hormonal regulation of cellular processes dramatically influences zinc in the systemic circulation.
