Abstract

In recent years, brain and its functions has been studied extensively. Brain computer interface (BCI) proposes communication possibilities between human, supporting device and with their environment using the brain signals. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non- invasive technique used for brain signal acquisition. Artefacts cause severe problem when dealing with EEG recordings. Artefacts are not the part of the subject of empirical study however; they are express in the analytical result. They are expressed in the analytical result. This decreases the overall accuracy of algorithm that process these signals. Numerous methods are proposed to manipulate the recorded signals during pre-processing phase to attain desirable results. This paper utilizes Emotiv insight a 5-channel wireless mobile EEG device to acquire EEG signals and further examine noise and artefacts present in dataset of 10 healthy participants in crowded situation in urban environment. The filter applied to each signals data is finite impulse response (FIR), a user-specified bandwidth, and linear-phase to prevent distortion of the signal morphology along with independent component analysis (ICA) for further pre-processing of the signal.
