Abstract

The decline in physical fitness among elementary school students has become a social problem, and there is a need to promote physical activity in these students. The promotion of physical activity also has an impact on health and learning. In this study, we examined the effects of the elementary school facility environment on the physical activity of students, using a questionnaire survey and actual measurements of physical activity. The analysis results suggested that students at elementary schools having a good schoolyard environment walked more and that the operation of the school affects student's school-time step counts.
