The goal of engineers in the development of practically every process is to make the operation continuous. Such a process can consist of either automated or repetitive operations, but the ideal solution is to find a way to make operation truly continuous and to as great an extent as possible, hands-off. The synthesis of refractory materials is no exception. Rotary kilns and furnaces represent the goal which, with the exception of the cement industry, has rarely been achieved.
