Why Indonesian Universities Should Take Benefits from MOOC (Massive Open Online Course)

Abstract

MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) gains its popularity in a couple ofyears. Top United States universities are racing to give their bestcourses under their best professors. While the Internet access inIndonesia is getting main stream, the chance to get top quality learningmaterials from famous University becomes easier. In this paper wediscuss about MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and how universities inIndonesia could take benefit from MOOC to give their students learningmaterials with international standard. This paper introduces the currentsituation of the growing popularity of MOOC (Massive Open OnlineCourse). The system and technology behind MOOC and the benefits fromadopting it will be also are analyzed. Based on this foundation, wepropose strategy for Universities in Indonesia to take benefit from MOOCto increase the quality of their existing learning material.
