Abstract

The article discusses the economic decline, liquidation, and closure of the Borders bookstore chain. The author comments on the experience of working for Borders in the 1990s and examines several reasons for the company's collapse, including its failure to adapt to and capitalize on market changes involving the increasing popularity of electronic books (eBooks). Other topics include the company's web site and the impact of the company's closure on bookseller Barnes & Noble.
