Abstract

Feminist scholars are often at the forefront of arguing that academic freedom is an outdated, elitist concept that needs to be redefined to allow greater opportunity for the voices of under-represented groups to be heard. This chapter focuses upon how such attempts to redefine academic freedom and curb free speech on campus often emerge from the notion that there are gendered ways of knowing and a particularly feminist concept of knowledge.
