Abstract

How to protect the sensitive information of CAD model is becoming a challenging issue in collaborative product development (CPD). This paper proposed a free-form deformation (FFD) based method to protect the sensitive information in feature-based CAD model. With the advantages of FFD from computational mathematics and computer graphics, we can indirectly transform FFD lattice parameters that drive the original sketch parameters, and finally encrypt and deform the original CAD model. In this way, not only the sensitive information can be hidden by partial deformation, but also the range and direction of deformation can be easily controlled by collaborative parterres in a flexible and robust manner. The case study and experiments demonstrate the proposed idea and method.
