Abstract

Bi25FeO40 iron sillenite nanoparticles have been synthesized by hydrothermal method using KOH as mineraliser. Structural, optical and magnetic characterization of Bi25FeO40 nanoparticles have been carried out. XRD confirms the formation of Bi25FeO40 phase and the average crystallite size obtained as ~25 nm. Magnetic characterization showed weak ferromagnetic behaviour at room temperature and optical characterization showed small optical band gap of Bi25FeO40 nanoparticles in the visible range of spectra.
