Abstract

Based on content analysis of women's writings from Burma, this chapter provides a critical analysis of women's leadership roles in development, particularly in crisis conditions, and how the spiritual and religious traditions of communities influence their sustainable development efforts. The findings show that religion and spirituality play important roles in the development of women as leaders in crisis conditions, both directly through their statements and indirectly through their discussion about their other everyday experiences.
