Abstract

The O-poiysaccharides of various serogroups of P. syringae were found to have similar structures with the main chain of a rhamnan which may carry a monosaccharide side chain of D-rhamnose, D-fucose, 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucose or 3-acetamido-3,6-dideoxy-D-galactose. The relationship between the seroiogical specificity and the hostplant specificity of P. syringae and the structures of the O-polysaccharides is discussed.
