Trabeculotomy and exam under anesthesia (EUA)

Abstract

Patients should have been evaluated and deemed appropriate for such surgical intervention. Typically an exam under anesthesia is performed to completely evaluate the eyes prior to beginning surgery. Patients with uncontrolled eye pressure, with or without clear corneas, in which it is anticipated that Schlemm's canal is present, can be considered for this procedure. Patients and or appropriate family members should have been educated about the risks and benefits of the procedure, including alternatives.
