Abstract

The first attempts to recognize mechanisms of load transmission in granular materials using photo-elastic technique were undertaken in the first half of the 20th century. Integrated photo-elasticity was employed for further experimental studies on big granular assemblies. This paper contains new proposal of non-standard analysis of photo-elastic images of deforming granular material. This proposal is based on defining some basic components of 2D Fourier transform of an image.
