Abstract

This chapter discusses hub location, round trip location, transfer point location, and collection depots location problems. We define each problem and present mathematical formulations. We aim to reflect upon Zvi Drezner’s contributions to the literature in each of the problem settings. In particular, we highlight the difference between hub location and classical facility location problems. We present mathematical formulations of the single and multiple allocation p-hub median, uncapacitated and capacitated hub location, and p-hub center problems. We also define and present mathematical models for the round trip location, collection depots location, and transfer point location problems. Moreover, for each of these problems, we discuss its relation to the hub location problem and reflect upon Zvi Drezner’s contributions. We lastly present some extensions to these problems and offer research prospects.
