Abstract

There is a theoretical prediction that it is impossible for a two-dimension crystal to exist under normal conditions, due to the unstable properties of such a crystal, leading to it decomposing or it becoming rapidly rolled. This project is aimed at growing graphene from solid carbon sources to make the process cheaper and scalable for industrial use. Even though the quality of this kind of graphene is not as good as original graphene, this method provides a cheap and convenient way to prepare graphene and so promotes its broad application. In this project, a soluble solid carbon source and a soluble metal guide were used to fabricate graphene. Theoretically, graphene can be grown on any inert substrates.
