Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming more prevalent across various industries. However, the construction industry and its suppliers have not yet recognized its full potential as it relates to efficiency and competitiveness. This study aims to increase the understanding of AI in the environment of construction by presenting a case applying tools referring to the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) and Six Sigma to show how to implement selected AI technologies in a systematic way in order to improve processes. Thus, this paper presents a novel approach for solving business process and management problems combining TRIZ and Six Sigma tools. We specifically focus on extending TRIZ with Six Sigma. To demonstrate the successful application of the developed TRIZ-Six Sigma framework a case study is included. Overall, this paper provides an illustrative example of successful systematic innovation and demonstrates how AI technology can be implemented within a real company by identifying the use of cases with the support of TRIZ. This case report can help practitioners in planning and executing similar projects towards business process optimization since fast and efficient processes have been obtained in a real world scenario.
