Abstract

Outlines several ethics developed by international organisations and national governments, including: the 1980 World Conservation Strategy; the 1984 G7 Economic Summit; the 1987 EC conference on "Environmental ethics'; the regular "Environmental guidelines for world industry' issued by the International Chamber of Commerce; the 1989 US Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economics Project's ten Valdez Principles; and the moral principle of stewardship set out in the UK Government's White Paper, "This common inheritance'. These are accompanied by a "Code of environmental practice' developed by the author, in a 1992 book. -A.Gilg
