Abstract

Mathematical models to predict sleepiness have been developed for both theoretical and practical reasons. At present six such models have been presented. They all use circadian and sleep/homeostatic components, but also add factors like time on task, circadian typology, light, and other factors. The detailed parameters are frequently not presented and validation in work situations are lacking for most models. This chapter describes the basics of the models.
