Abstract

The need for a strong coordinated voice that will put nutrition and food policy at the forefront of health policy making and funding arenas is discussed, based on the views of the various stakeholders such as the academe, food and advertising industries, international non-governmental organizations, UN agencies and individual countries. It was suggested that additional debates and research be done in order to reach the optimal balance between, government policies and individual and corporate actions in relation to nutrition promotion (especially in the reduction of obesity and undernutrition levels).
