This article applies a comparative scholarly framework to analyse the reception of the proportionality test by Chilean scholars. It is suggested that most Chilean scholars who promote this test do not support the specific version of the test they claim to promote. Sometimes, scholars introduce variations so as to render them closer to the alternative version of the test, as it is called in the comparative milieu.
