Abstract

In addition to coal, oil shale, and offshore oil and natural gas, there are numerous deposits of iron ore; chromite in Unst, Shetland, and in Perthshire as well as in the Tertiary igneous rocks of Rhum and Skye; Pb and Zn at Leadhills, Strontian and Tyndrum; U at Tyndrum and Stromness, Orkney; and baryte, together with Pb and Zn, in the Aberfeldy area.
