Abstract

In the Czech Republic of the beginning of twenty-first century, over 80% of the population is connected to the public sewerage. Connecting the remaining part of population to drainage systems and the related choice of the right kind of sewerage is therefore a very topical problem. The traditional means of drainage is considered to be the integrated or divided sewerage systems, which are based on principles of gravity and free-flow transport of wastewater. The alternative means of drainage is the compressive and vacuum sewerage systems. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2011.
