Abstract

Gallbladder cancer is highly aggressive disease and very few therapeutic options available for its management. There is a dire need to explore new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches while minimizing the toxic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. In the era of next-generation sequencing, molecular characterization of gallbladder cancer using omics technologies has led to the identification of many novel mutations, dysregulated proteins, epigenetic alterations, and aberrant activation of pathways in gallbladder cancer patients. All these approaches which help in the management of gallbladder cancer towards personalized therapy will be discussed in this chapter.
