In radio positioning, five basic signal parameters have been widely considered for position determination, namely signal strength, time-of-arrival, frequency difference-of-arrival, carrier phase, and angle-of-arrival. Each of these methods have different strengths and weaknesses, so in general there must be a tradeoff between complexity, the associated cost and positional accuracy.
