Abstract

This article describes the development of an autonomous navigation system for mobile robots which can be used in unstructured and unknown indoor environment. Histogram of the range data captured using Kinect is utilized in developing the obstacle avoidance algorithm which avoids the static and dynamic obstacles. In addition to this, an object recognition task is also carried out by the robot using SURF algorithm. Once the object is recognized, it sends that information to the remote workstation through wireless communication. © Springer India 2015.
