Rehabilitation of habitat is of increasing importance as we have more and more impacts on marine systems. It covers a range of activities from the simple removal of disturbances, with the hope that recovery will occur without further intervention, to the creation of novel habitats. It is easier to instigate these activities than it is to evaluate how successful they are and there is a need to for considerable more research into the ways in which degraded marine habitats can be rehabilitated and how the success of such activities can be measured.
