Abstract

The authors present a specification strategy and language which allow the same simulation problem specification to be used for both distributed discrete-event simulation mechanisms and the traditional single-event list mechanism. They describe the Yaddes specification language and the four simulation mechanisms currently supported. They present results for three simulation examples and estimate the performance of a communication structure needed to support the various simulation mechanisms. This work has been done on a uniprocessor emulating a multiprocessor. This has limited some of the results but lays a foundation for future simulation mechanism comparison.
