Abstract

This chapter presents the results of a study which investigates the relationships between income and positive affect, life satisfaction and subjective happiness among Japanese workers. Two hundred fifty-one workers (76 local government workers and 175 manufacturing industry workers) were invited to participate in the study. Participants answered a self-reported questionnaire including annual income, positive affect, life satisfaction, subjective happiness and other covariates. The effects of annual income on positive affect, life satisfaction and subjective happiness were subsequently tested, showing no associations between these variables. Potential biases are finally discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2015 APA, all rights reserved). (book)
