Abstract
Matoa (Pometia pinnata J. R & G Forst) is one of the medicinal plants that has the potential as anantibacterial. This study aims to determine the inhibition of ethanol extract of matoa fruit peel (Pometia pinnata J. R&G Forst) against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Matoa fruit peel samples (Pometia pinnata J. R& G Forst) were extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. Inhibition test of ethanol extract of matoa fruit peel (Pometia pinnata J. R& G Forst) using the hole printing method with samples of matoa fruit peel extract (Pometia pinnata J. R& G Forst) at concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60%, positive control ( amoxicillin injection), and negative control (ethanol 96%). The results showed that the ethanol extract of the matoa fruit peel (Pometia pinnata J. R& G Forst) at concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60% had inhibitory diameters of 0.66 cm; 0.83 cm and 0.77 cm. With this, a linear regression test was carried out, the value of r obtained was 0.66, which means linear. This shows that the linear regression resulting from the three concentrations is sufficient, which means that the linear increase in concentration affects the ability of inhibition against Stapylococcus aureus bacteria. Based on the results of the observation of the diameter of the inhibitory power and the increase in the ethanol extract of the matoa fruit peel (Pometia pinnata J. R & G Forst) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria did not affect the ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Keywords: matoa fruit peel, Staphylococcus aureus, Inhibitory power, hole print diffusion
