Abstract

As Europe recovered from the Black Death and created a splendid Renaissance for itself, long-held ideas were challenged and replaced with others. The change would manifest itself in literature, the arts and science, though not simultaneously. In this chapter, we consider some of these trends, as insight into the evolution of concepts and worldviews is necessary for an accurate perspective on the story of Diophantos.
