Abstract

This chapter considers the problem of vibroimpact dynamics of lumpedsystems represented by two and more degrees of freedom in the presenceof single and two barriers. Of particular interest of these systemsis the prediction of bifurcation and chaos manifested by the occurrenceof perioddoubling and saddlenode bifurcations. These systems aremainly used as vibroimpact vibration absorbers, spherical pendulums, and coupled pendulums. In the presence of weak nonlinearities thesesystems can experience internal resonance conditions, and possiblyparametric resonance when subjected to parametric excitation. Vibroimpactsystems have also been used as passive vibration control such asvibroimpact dampers, which will be addressed in Chapter 8.
