Teacher Burnout and Aggression among Selected Public School Teachers in the Philippines

Abstract

Previous studies have established how burnout among teachers can adversely affect their job performance and may even lead to aggression. This study attempted to establish the level of burnout among teachers and their aggression, and whether or not there is a relationship between these two variables. 47 public school teachers volunteered to participate in this study. They were asked to answer the Aggression Questionnaire, which measures Physical Aggression, Verbal Aggression, Anger Aggression and Hostility Aggression and the Teacher Burnout questionnaire. The data revealed that the respondents have low Physical Aggression, neither low nor high Verbal Aggression, low Anger Aggression and low Hostility Aggression. They also exhibited low Teacher Burnout. Furthermore, it was found that Physical Aggression, Verbal Aggression, Anger Aggression and Hostility Aggression do not influence Teacher Burnout and vice versa.
