Abstract

Indonesian corn production often fluctuates, resulting in dependence on imports. Low productivity is one of the problem of low corn production. Corn productivity can be increased through improved cultivation methods such as management of plant spacing and fertilization. This study aims to obtain the optimal spacing and dosage of liquid complementary fertilizers to increase corn yields. This research was conducted from March to July 2021 at State Polytechnic of Jember, Indonesia. The experiment was arranged using a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is plant spacing, namely 70 cm x 20 cm, 75cm  x 15 cm, and 80 cm x 10 cm, while the second factor is the dose of liquid complementary fertilizer, namely 0 l.ha-1, 15 l ha-1, 25 l.ha-1, and 35 l.ha-1. The results showed that the best corn cobs was at a spacing of 70 cm x 20 cm with a potential yield of 11.2 tons.ha-1. However, the potential yield of maize is higher at a spacing of 80 cm x 10 cm, which is 13 tons.ha-1. This is because the corn population is more at a narrower spacing. The best performance of crop yields (fresh weight and dry weight of cobs) was on 35 l.ha-1 liquid complementary fertilizer.
