Abstract

This article reviews the basis of probability and statistics used in the genetic analysis of complex human diseases and illustrates their use in several simple examples. Much of the material presented here is so fundamental to statistics that it has become common knowledge in the field and the originators are no longer cited (e.g., Gauss). © 2011 Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press.
