Abstract

This study aims to explore the topic of motivation and education in the context of user experience. A systematic review is employed to cover trends, analyze literature, comprehensively understand the topic, and explain the purpose and future scope of user experience in motivation and education. For this, metadata was generated from Harzing’s Publish or Perish via Scopus. This data was analyzed using MAXQDA’s Wordcloud, VOS Viewer for visualization, BibExcel, and Citespace for an in-depth understanding of trends and clusters, and Mendeley for hosting and formatting references. The review shows that user experience can be crucial in building engagement and critical thinking skills. This review briefly explores the economic viability of involving a better user experience in motivation and education. This review demonstrates the potential of data analysis tools in bibliometric synthesis and describes the future of user experience in Motivation and Education. The review and discussion identify the following factors influencing user experience in motivation and education: Information and Communication Technology, User Centric Interfaces, and Gamification for Education. Further, Augmented Reality in the context of education has been identified in the scope of future work.
