Since the beginning of the 1990’s, there have been changes in the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages associated with the search for new approaches to teaching and learning the language. This was manifested in the revision of the goals and objectives of training, among which learning to communicate in a foreign language, regarding the competence approach begins to play an important role. The competence approach can be considered as an effective way to plan the learning process of foreign languages in non-linguistic universities which fits contemporary requirements of the labour market. There is an active search for ways of forming foreign language communicative competence of bachelor-students in non-linguistic universities. The purpose of this work is to create productive methods of development lingual and compensatory components of this competence, especially concerning students of non-linguistic universities. The paper reveals the concept of foreign language communicative competence, identifies its main components and gives a brief description of each of them. The scientific novelty of the research is the elaboration of the case method, which is a new integrated approach to the professional and personal growth of students by means of a foreign language. In addition to the analysis of methodological, linguistic and didactic literature, we conducted an experiential learning to achieve this goal. As the result we have the proof of the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
