Abstract

Patriarchy—male dominance in all aspects—a powerful and dominant concept that existed from the beginning of humanity, has started diminishing its sharpness and intensity over the years. Even though, this very notion still prevails in society in different forms it makes an explicit hindrance to the development and advancement of women in the public and private sector of society. For many decades, women were behind the shadow of men, and begin to explore the world where they excel through their talents, efficiency, and merit. Hence, it’s high time to evaluate and understand the nuances of the patriarchal dimension in the progress and empowerment of women who has a significant and prolific role to play in the process of nation-building from a wider perspective. This review paper attempts to describe and analyze how patriarchy makes obstacles to the growth and progress of women in society. In addition to that, this paper encapsulates the impact of patriarchy on the economic and social sectors of society as economic and social features are the inevitable features and pillars of sustainability. Finally, this article will conclude with some of the recommendations and insights which lend a hand to the promotion and furtherance of women who can be molded as the champion of change in society and add value and uniqueness to their own lives in a large sense.
