One of the most emblematic cases of violence in recent Colombian history is the event known as the massacre of Bojayá, which took place on 2 May 2002. The article traces, documents, and periodizes the place of the massacre of Bojayá in the narrative created by the Presidency of the Republic between May 2002 and May 2017. On the basis of the analysis of the documentation gathered, it concludes that the massacre of Bojayá was used by the three presidents who held office during that time period, in order to seek national and international support for the implementation of their government policies.
