Abstract

Cribrospongiidae Roemer (Hexactinellida, Hexactinosida), neglected for over 100 years, was resurrected by Reid in 1963b. It is differen- tiated from Craticulariidae by quincuncial rather than quadruncial arrangement of well-developed diarhyses. It has a rich fossil record and is represented in the Recent by a single species, Stereochlamis incertum, known only from one location, 2500m depth, in the Sulu Archipelago
