Abstract

Society has changed over the years where people of all ages are now expected to own a mobile device. A mobile phone acts as a personal comfort zone for people to centralize their thoughts and commitments. From video, audio calls to SMS, everybody is somewhat interacting with one another which in turn generate emotional rewards. The personal conversation between close friends and family is an instant stimulus triggering mental satisfaction amongst them. Rapid development changes are happening in mobile technology advancement today. Smart phones lead the way by providing considerably large amounts of memory integrated within an Operating System to load web content across the mobile screen. From a desktop perspective, the screen is wide and a vast array of content can be displayed without much limitations. And here lies a problem where the small mobile screen intends to render every block of information from their associated desktop page. To date, there are serious compatibility concerns with web content failing to load successfully or even loading abnormally. Like many adoptions of standards, many are considered but most get dropped. Even for a specific platform say the BlackBerry, exist multiple screen-sizes which has to be accounted for. If the screen resolution fails to render the content accordingly, reliability of the phone will be compromised. As a whole, the entire writing discusses why Mobile Web Browsing is necessary to be considered and ultimately how we can further improve on the current standards. This paper proposes an advancement in mobile web browsing techniques which combines pattern analysis and visual separators. It will firstly cover a wide range of mobile browsing techniques which ought to be primary features in improving the user experience while critically analysing their implications. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
