Abstract

A question answering system has been presented for solving simple arithmetic word problems. It focusses on achieving high precision such that interested students can use it as a tool for checking their work. This is possible because of the representation of schemas that sets up expectations for solving word problems. There are some unique advantages it presents, such as robustness to the type of question and generation of interpretable solutions.
