Abstract

Period searching is widely used in astronomy for analyzing observatory data. Computer programs used for these tasks can be opitmized to work on novel computer architectures, such as Cell Broadband Engine. In this article we present performance results of one of these programs on the Cell processor. Important programming steps and performance comparisons are shown and discussed. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
