Abstract

In this paper, three MoO3 nanostructures were successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal method with the assistance of surfactants. We systematically explained the evolution process and proposed the possible formation mechanisms of the morphologies. The additives played an important role in the formation of MoO3 morphologies. The gas sensing performance of the MoO3 nanostructures to ethanol was also investigated. 3D porous nest-like MoO3 nanostructures assembled with numerous nanorods exhibited excellent property. The results may be of great benefit to further investigations of synthesizing different MoO3 nanostructures and their gas sensing applications.
