Abstract

A 34 year-old male with an initially unknown neurologic disorder presented to the emergency department following an intentional overdose. He was initially noted to be tachycardic, somnolent, and then had a generalized tonic-clonic seizure, which appeared to have resolved, although EEG monitoring later revealed nonconvulsive status epilepticus. He was treated with multiple medications, and ultimately, made a complete recovery. A detailed discussion of drug-induced seizures, as well as the mechanism of action of this particular xenobiotic, ensues.
