Empirical research on impact of the home advantage of referees upon Chinese basketball professional league

Abstract

The referee is considered to be one of influencing factors of existing home advantage. GLM-univariate and multiple-factor variance analysis, whether the referee affects directly the home advantage or not in Chinese basketball professional leagues. The result shows that: Chinese basketball professional league exists the home advantage; The judgement of the referee is influenced by the noise. The referee is one of the most direct influencing factors of existing of home advantage in Chinese basketball professional league. Finally, some feasible suggestions are put forward for reducing the influence of the home advantage in Chinese basketball professional league. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
