Abstract

Grossly visible hepatic nodular lesions in 34 flounder collected during the BMB/ICES Sea-going Workshop 'Fish Diseases and Parasites in the Baltic Sea', 25 November to 8 December, 1994, are described histopathologically. Foci of cellular alteration were recorded only in three fish from the southwestern Baltic Sea, whereas loci of cellular alteration and liver neoplasm's occurred in nine and six fish, respectively, from the northeastern sampling area. The overall prevalence of confirmed preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions was estimated at 0.6 and 0.9%, respectively.
