Abstract

An overview of the role of physical therapy is presented within the context of the early childhood special education environment, from evaluation through transitions. The role is discussed within a theoretical framework to explain decision making for the provision of evidenced-based related service support. Knowledge, expertise, and education required for the provision of effective physical therapy services are explained. A synopsis of common interventions is summarized with relevance to the service delivery models and provision of evidenced-based practice. Recommendations are offered to support regular and special education teachers with a vision for future developmental and educational outcomes.
