Abstract

Management of early breast cancer has become increasingly successful, leading to current 10-year survival rates of around 80-85%. Approximately 75% of breast cancers are hormone-receptor-positive, and these patients are usually managed in the adjuvant setting with targeted hormonal agents, and if indicated, cytotoxic chemotherapy. These treatments are not without side effects, and of particular relevance to the older woman is their impact on skeletal health. © 2010 Springer-Verlag London.
